Goatober was created as a month-long celebration (created by Heritage Foods USA) on the menus of New York restaurants in 2012 as a way to promote goat meat as delicious, ethical and sustainable.
In 2016, James Whetlor, founder of Cabrito Goat Meat brought introduced Goatober to the UK and to mainland Europe the following year. In 2019 journalist Franka Philip introduced Goatober to Trinidad and Tobago.
Now, there are events in New York, London and all over the UK, Holland, Belgium, France, Australia and the Caribbean.
